Besides the scholarships offered by British Council there are other organisations which provide funding for studying in the UK.

Students may apply for a range of scholarships and funding provided by UK and international Government bodies, the European Commission, funding trusts, a number of research councils, industry and employers.

Chevening Scholarship

Chevening is the UK government’s international awards scheme aimed at developing global leaders. Funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations, Chevening offers two types of award – Chevening Scholarships and Chevening Fellowships.  – the recipients of which are rigorously selected by British Embassies and High Commissions throughout the world.

Chevening India programme is the world’s largest:

  1. Up to 65 fully funded scholarships for one year master’s for Indian graduates in a discipline of their choice at any recognised UK university. Click here for details.

Up to 65 fully funded fellowships - customised, thematic short term professional development programmes at a designated UK University for mid to senior level professionals in wide ranging themes including science and innovation, leadership and excellence, cyber security, financial services and journalism. Oxford India Centre Scholarship

The Centre provides funding for talented Indian graduate students who would not otherwise be able to take up their places at Oxford.

Academy Asia Senior Fellowship

The Queen Elizabeth II Academy for Leadership in International Affairs offers potential and established leaders from around the world the opportunity to spend up to twelve months at Chatham House. The fellowship is aimed at emerging or experienced leaders who will spend six months in London as an Academy senior fellow hosted by a Chatham House research department.

Applicants may propose a research project in one of nine research topics covering areas such as Global Health in Asia, Future Role of the United States in Asia, China and natural resources, Indonesia and ASEAN, Europe-China Security Cooperation, Security of Outer Space Systems, and China and the Future of the International Legal Order.

The Rhodes Scholarships India

Applications are invited from outstanding graduates holding at least a first class honours degree in Pure or Applied Sciences, Humanities, Law or Medicine of Indian Universities for five scholarships, for a course of study leading to a degree of the University of Oxford (UK). 

Candidates in the final year of their degree courses with exceptional academic record may also apply. Candidates must demonstrate their continuing interest and achievement in extra curricular activities such as sports, theatre and community work.

Graduate Scholarships at LSE

Scholarships are available for students from India starting a Master’s programme at LSE. This scheme is open to all applicants, with the exception of those undertaking specific modular or executive programmes such as the MSc in Finance (Part time), the MSc in Health Economics, Policy and Management and the MSc in Diplomacy and International Strategy.

Research Council UK Scholarships

Research Council funding for postgraduate research training goes directly to research organisations who then undertake the selection and recruitment of students. Prospective students seeking scholarships or bursaries for fees or stipend should contact the research organisation at which they wish to study. The research organisation will be able to offer advice on what funding is available, eligibility and application guidance.

International Academic Scholarship at the University of Worcester

Overseas students who are currently holding an offer from us and are not being funded from another source can apply for an International scholarship. There are approximately 30 scholarships available worldwide and each is valued at £2,000.

The University of Lincoln Scholarships

For programmes commencing in 2019, the University of Lincoln is offering India Scholarships to high achieving postgraduate applicants. For eligible students, scholarship payments take the form of a reduction in tuition fees and are valued at £5,000.

Royal Society – Yusuf and Farida Hamied Foundation International Exchanges Award

Grants for collaborations with researchers in India are available through the Royal Society – Hamied Foundation International Exchanges Award. Up to £12,000 is available for a 2 year project for travel and subsistence including a maximum of £2,000 for research expenses. Applications must be made through the Standard Programme.
