Besides the scholarships offered by British Council there are other organisations and UK higher education institutions which provide funding for studying in the UK.

Students may apply for a range of scholarships and funding provided by UK and international Government bodies, the European Commission, funding trusts, a number of research councils, industry and employers.

Chevening Scholarship

Chevening is the UK government’s international awards scheme aimed at developing global leaders. Funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations, Chevening offers two types of award – Chevening Scholarships and Chevening Fellowships.  – the recipients of which are rigorously selected by British Embassies and High Commissions throughout the world.

Chevening India programme is the world’s largest:

  1. Up to 65 fully funded scholarships for one year master’s for Indian graduates in a discipline of their choice at any recognised UK university. Click here for details.

The Centre provides funding for talented Indian graduate students who would not otherwise be able to take up their places at Oxford.

Academy Asia Fellowship

The Queen Elizabeth II Academy for Leadership in International Affairs offers potential and established leaders from around the world the opportunity to spend up to twelve months at Chatham House. The fellowship is aimed at emerging or experienced leaders who will spend six months in London as an Academy senior fellow hosted by a Chatham House research department.

Applicants may propose a research project in one of nine research topics covering areas such as Global Health in Asia, Future Role of the United States in Asia, China and natural resources, Indonesia and ASEAN, Europe-China Security Cooperation, Security of Outer Space Systems, and China and the Future of the International Legal Order.

The Rhodes Scholarships India

Applications are invited from outstanding graduates holding at least a first class honours degree in Pure or Applied Sciences, Humanities, Law or Medicine of Indian Universities for five scholarships, for a course of study leading to a degree of the University of Oxford (UK). 

Candidates in the final year of their degree courses with exceptional academic record may also apply. Candidates must demonstrate their continuing interest and achievement in extra curricular activities such as sports, theatre and community work.

Scholarships are available for students from India starting a Master’s programme at LSE. Research Council UK Scholarships

Research Council funding for postgraduate research training goes directly to research organisations who then undertake the selection and recruitment of students. Prospective students seeking scholarships or bursaries for fees or stipend should contact the research organisation at which they wish to study. The research organisation will be able to offer advice on what funding is available, eligibility and application guidance.

Royal Society – Yusuf and Farida Hamied Foundation International Exchanges Award

Grants for collaborations with researchers in India are available through the Royal Society – Hamied Foundation International Exchanges Award. Up to £12,000 is available for a 2 year project for travel and subsistence including a maximum of £2,000 for research expenses. Applications must be made through the Standard Programme.

The Vice Chancellors International Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship

The Vice Chancellors International Undergraduate Excellence Scholarships are designed to reward outstanding international applicants, who have been offered a place to study with UEA. Scholarships are awarded in amounts of 25% or 50% of your tuition fees and are deducted on a yearly basis from your tuition fees.

India Postgraduate (Taught) Masters Scholarships 2018/19

All self-funded Postgraduate (taught) Masters applicants from India will automatically be awarded a scholarship of between £4000-£5000. The amount of scholarship awarded will be dependent on your academic background.   

  • £4000 – if you are offered a place on any postgraduate (taught) masters courses at UEA  
  • £5000– if you previously achieved first class honours (70%+) or equivalent in your Bachelors degree

International Academic Scholarship at the University of Worcester

Overseas students who are currently holding an offer from us and are not being funded from another source can apply for an International scholarship. There are approximately 30 scholarships available worldwide and each is valued at £2,000.

GLASGOW KERALA SCHOLARSHIP

Following the severe floods which impacted the Indian state of Kerala, the University of Glasgow is offering 4 exclusive scholarships to students from this area and who are facing challenges in progressing onto postgraduate education. The scholarship is available to students entering any of the University’s Colleges to undertake a one year Masters programme in 2019-2020.

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • demonstrate academic excellence and achieve grades equivalent to a degree equivalent to a UK 2:1 Hons or better
  • hold an offer of a place for a postgraduate taught programme at the University of Glasgow
  • be classed as an International Student for fee purposes
  • be resident in India (and from the state of Kerala) at time of applying
