The British Council’s work in higher education and science focuses on strengthening and expanding international collaboration between India and the UK. We foster partnerships and joint research by engaging with the higher education ecosystem at systemic, institutional, and individual levels. This includes working closely with policymakers, universities, research institutions, sector bodies, students, and influencers across both countries. Our efforts are delivered through strategic programmes such as Going Global Partnerships (GGP) and the UK–India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI), which promote the internationalisation of higher education in India through academic and research collaborations, policy dialogues, and capacity-building initiatives.
UK Universities in India Alliance membership
The British Council, in collaboration with UK Government departments, Universities UK International (UUKi), and Indian stakeholders, has launched the UK Higher Education Collaboration Hub.
