Shannon took up the role of Deputy Director India and Director North India for the British Council in 2025. He has worked for over 30 years in education in a variety of roles starting in English language teaching in Australia, England and Wales. Shannon joined the British Council in 1998 as an English teacher, trainer and examiner in Ecuador and Venezuela. He later worked on English language research and curriculum development projects in Greece and Italy. In 2003, Shannon worked in the British Council head office in a variety of roles in HR, Corporate Planning and Performance and Operations. From 2018, Shannon led the British Council’s work with the UK Schools sector – bringing an international perspective to UK policy making and schools. Just before India, Shannon led the British Council office in Bangladesh, working across Arts and Culture, Education and English Programmes.
Shannon enjoys designing and making clothes for himself and friends and balcony gardening.
