‘Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears’. 

British Council Chennai invites you to celebrate William Shakespeare through a workshop with ‘Shakespeare Stories on Stage’ - in Theatrical Form. This workshop is specailly curated for children between 9 to 13 years. Children will use theatre as a medium to discover what it’s like to make spells and create atmosphere on stage – rolling this altogether for a heart-warming show. This workshop will be conducted over three days covering the below outline.

  • Introduction to Shakespeare and his work
  • Unlocking Shakespeare's Language
  • Overview of the plays - Merchant of Venice, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and King Lear
  • Script reading of the plays (adapted)
  • Introduction to the Globe Theatre, Theatre, Rehearsals, and Audience during the Shakespeare’s time
  • Exploring various characters from Shakespeare’s plays
  • Play Rehearsal 
  • Syncronisation of selected scenes from different plays performed using different theatre styles
  • Present the performance 

Regsitration fee
