From cinematic journeys at our film screenings to literary explorations in the Writers' Club, the Poetry Circle, and the innovative Book Club, each event is thoughtfully curated to inspire personal growth through film, literature, and community engagement across our centres in New Delhi, Kolkata, and Chennai.
Theme: Environment
This month, we invite you to join us in honoring the beauty, complexity, and resilience of the environment. Through powerful literature, thought-provoking discussions, and storytelling that spans cultures and generations, we will explore how words can inspire environmental awareness, foster collective responsibility, and contribute to the preservation of our planet for future generations.
Where: British Council Library in New Delhi, Chennai, or Kolkata on Fridays.
When: 3pm to 6pm, every Friday evening.

Book Club: The Wall by John Lanchester Join us for the discussion on The Wall by John Lanchester is a dystopian novel published in 2019. It's set in a near-future Britain that has built a massive wall around its coastline to keep out "the Others" — people fleeing climate disasters and other catastrophes from elsewhere in the world. Book Club: Heart Lamp: Selected Stories Join us for the discussion on Heart Lamp: Selected Stories consists of 12 short stories written by Banu Mushtaq over three decades, translated into English by Deepa Bhasthi. The stories focus on the experiences of Muslim women in southern India, addressing themes of gender inequality, faith, and societal pressures, often with dry humour and emotional depth. The book was awarded the International Booker Prize in 2025, at London's Tate Modern.
