The British Council’s pavilion at the Kolkata Book Fair in 2017 offers information on our library and online memberships , education and English language learning, exams and qualifications and much more.
This year we also have a special Shakespeare Mela which celebrates the world's most popular playwright's work on the 400th anniversary of his death in 2016.
The era of Shakespearean theatre will also be brought alive by the pavilion which is constructed in the style of the Globe Theatre in the UK.
Visitors to the British Council’s pavilion can watch all of William Shakespeare’s 37 plays as part of the The Globe Theatre’s Complete Walk video-installation. They will have the chance to become a director and create a scene of their own from Romeo and Juliet at the interactive Mix the Play zone.
