Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) conference was conducted in June 2024 for international teachers and advisers. The British Council took 19 counsellors from India to participate in the conference, along with counsellors from other South Asian countries and East Asia.
The conference helped the counsellors in their professional development and provided opportunity to engage, share knowledge, and network with wider Higher Education contacts. Sessions like ‘personal statements – do’s and dont’s’, ‘parameters for students to consider while working on their personal statement’ were conducted which were very helpful for the counsellors. Other sessions like ‘application cycle for 2025’, ‘Higher Education landscape’, and ‘AI on Education and student journey while in UK’ were also considered beneficial. The conference concluded with campus visit to University of Brunel and MET Film Institute.
The trip to UK also included a familiarisation visit to UK universities organised by the British Council. The counsellors visited four UK universities during their stay – King’s College London, University of Reading, Imperial College London, and London School of Economics. These visits gave an insight to the university campus, provided platform for the school counsellors to meet the admissions teams, understand their requirements and opportunities for the students as an international student and explore facilities, resources and environment at the UK universities.
