Furthering our commitment to enable international student mobility and ensuring students receive the support they need to succeed in their educational endeavours, we organised an agent and counsellors’ symposium in Mumbai. With 150 attendees from India and Nepal, we had a rich conversation around business ethics, trends and student welfare.
Jacqui Jenkins, Global Programme Lead – International Student Mobility and Marketing, British Council was also present along with representatives from British Universities' International Liaison Association (BUILA), UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) and education institutions.
Siobhan Marshall, Regional Manager South Asia, BUILA lead the participants through Agent Quality Framework (AQF) and Code of Ethics workshop. The participants who had already completed AQF training were awarded with certificate.
A panel discussion on ‘Let’s talk business and ethics: trends and challenges in student recruitment’ explored emerging trends and evolving landscape of student recruitment, highlighted the best practices, and potential pitfalls, helping institutions navigate the complexities of recruitment while maintaining integrity and equity.
The second panel discussion on ‘In it together: creating an international students’ eco-system that works’ highlighted the importance of building a supportive, inclusive, and sustainable ecosystem for international students and best practices to achieve these goals.
The event was concluded with a closing session on ‘Day after tomorrow: what do Gen Z and Gen Alpha want?’ which delved into understanding the requirements, aspirations and expectations of the next generation students.
