Yahvi is a textile artist and educator based in London. Peel Studio is born out of her interest in both culinary arts and textiles, which led her to transform kitchen waste sourced from local cafés into tactile woven textiles. Her practice is rooted in the traditions of zero-waste living she grew up with in India, reimagined through a contemporary lens.  Her work invites us to live more consciously and create with care, using textiles as a medium of connection between people, materials, and sustainable futures.

About the Artwork

Neev
Textiles and Biomaterials - 2025

Neev is a handwoven textile made from biomaterials crafted using food waste collected from local cafés and Yahvi’s own kitchen. The weft combines banana peel, eggshells, avocado pits, and hand-spun banana fibre sourced from a remote craft cluster in India. All materials are undyed, untreated, and celebrated in their natural form. The warp is made using surplus yarns. Together, they form a quiet meditation on care, resourcefulness, and craft. The piece explores the idea that waste is not an end, but a quiet beginning — a foundation (neev) for new stories, materials, and ways of making rooted in care, resilience, and renewal.
