About the Artwork:
Title: Rooted in Transit
Medium: A conceptual pair of handcrafted footwear
Rooted in Transit is a conceptual footwear piece inspired by my experience of living between Mumbai and London. Combining Paithani silk, a checked fabric inspired by British textiles and handcrafted wooden soles, the work brings together elements from two places that have shaped both my personal journey and creative perspective.
The piece explores identity, movement and belonging, reflecting on how living, studying and building connections across different cultures can influence the way we see ourselves. Through footwear, it examines the lasting impact that places, people and experiences have on personal and creative growth.
