British Council invites emerging playwrights for a workshop Smashed To Pieces In The Still Of The Night with David Leddy

How do we break the rules, but keep the traditions? How do we smash up stories then radically reassemble them? You will create concepts for new projects using questions and provocations that help you weave together contrasting ideas, styles and art forms in original ways.

David Leddy is the artistic director of Fire Exit which was established in 2002. David has been described as a ‘theatrical maverick’ with a ‘propensity for fearless experiment’ by the Financial Times, a ‘site-specific genius’ by The Scotsman and an Edinburgh Fringe Festival ‘institution’ by The Independent. He was also the first person in Scotland to complete a practice-based PhD in theatre and is much sought-after as a mentor and leader of masterclasses at prestigious institutions from the Nucleo de Dramaturgia in Brazil to Yale University in the USA.

See David’s previous work at WWW.DAVIDLEDDY.COM

The participants for the workshop should be emerging playwrights who have had some experience of writing plays, and are willing to try to explore new dramatic formats.
