Join us in Govandi as the community celebrates a year of art development through through sustained creative interventions in the form of mentoring programs andartist’s residencies. Get a chance to delve deeper into the stories from the youth as they explore the genres of Spoken Word, Filmmaking, Theatre, Art and Photography through live performances, workshops and exhibitions. On the evening of 18th, participate in a fantastic parade of light in the streets of Govandi as the community collaborates with Lamplighter Arts CIC (UK) to animate larger than life puppet lanterns.
Govandi Arts festival is part of the ‘India/UK Together, a Season of Culture’, taking place in India and the UK from June 2022 to March 2023. The Season celebrates and strengthens the bilateral relationship, friendship and vibrant cultural bonds between the two countries and also marks India’s 75th anniversary. It is brought together by Community Design Agency (India), Streets Reimagined (UK) and Lamplighter Arts CIC (UK) who bring their shared practice of using arts to inspire placemaking and bring diverse communities together.
