Food is more than flavour — it’s memory, culture, and connection. This World Food Day, the British Council Libraries invite you to take part in Global bites: a culinary journey, a digital video challenge that celebrates the diversity of cuisines and the rich stories behind them.
Whats the challenge?
Love food? Love storytelling? Share your favourite dish in a creative 2-minute vlog! Whether it’s a family recipe, a street-food gem, or your ultimate comfort food, bring it alive by sharing:
- Its story or cultural significance
- Any history behind it
- Why it matters to you
The more visual and engaging, the better!

Important Dates
- Submission deadline: 8 October 2025
- Results announcement: 16 October 2025 (World Food Day)
Submission guidelines
- Format: Videos must be submitted in digital format (MP4 or MOV).
- The video should not exceed the 2-minute time limit.
- The deadline to submit video entries is 8 October 2025.
- Participants can submit their videos via WeTransfer to indialibraries@britishcouncil.org, mentioning Global Bites: A Culinary Journey and their name in the subject line.
- Should your video file size exceed email attachment limits, please email your video as a ZIP file to indialibraries@britishcouncil.org, mentioning Global Bites: A Culinary Journey and their name in the subject line.
- The name of the video file should be the name of the participant followed by the name of the challenge, for example: Your name - Global Bites: A Culinary Journey
- All participants are required to share signed consent form along with their video. Submissions without a signed consent form will not be accepted.
- Participants should ensure that their videos comply with local copyright laws and regulations.
- By participating in this challenge, participants agree to grant the British Council non-exclusive rights to share their videos on social media and other platforms.
- Entries must be original creations only.
Entries will be judged by the British Council. All decisions are final. We reserve the right to disqualify any entry that is deemed inappropriate or does not conform to stated contest rules.
