The British Council is proud to bring to you a fantastic discussion on Nilosree Biswas’s book – Calcutta on Your Plate. With photography by Irfan Nabi, this book explores Kolkata’s food today and its backstory that is embedded in 250 years of political, social, and cultural history. From the private kitchens of an exiled king and the homes of a handful of upper-class Bengalis, how some dishes became so popular is a thrilling story of taste, smell, and savouring.
Moderated by Dr Debanjan Chakrabarti, Director, British Council, East and Northeast India, join our esteemed panellists – Author Nilosree Biswas, British Deputy High Commissioner Nick Low, cultural historian Dr Tathagata Neogi, Chef Shaun Kenworthy and food blogger Rukshana Kapadia as they share their thoughts, interpretations, and personal experiences related to the basic theme of the book.
