The Brillante Piano Festival celebrates the piano as an instrument of performance, education, experimentation and innovation. Bringing together musicians, educators, artists, technology innovators and audiences, the festival explores contemporary approaches to the piano and the many possibilities it offers today.
The festival creates opportunities to experience live performance, discover new approaches to music-making and engage with the evolving relationship between music and technology. It also provides a platform for artists and practitioners to connect, exchange ideas and explore new creative collaborations.
India–UK creative exchange
The British Council is a partner of the Brillante Piano Festival, contributing to the programme and hosting festival activity at the British Council building in Delhi from 18–20 September 2026.
The festival reflects the British Council’s commitment to strengthening creative and professional exchange between India and the UK, bringing UK expertise, artists and innovation into dialogue with Indian musicians, educators and audiences.
The programme features Elena Riu, alongside Indian musicians Khyochano and Bindu Subramanium, both of whom were supported by the British Council to participate in the Association of British Orchestras (ABO) Annual Conference in 2026. Their participation highlights the longer-term networks and opportunities that international professional exchange can create.
Music meets technology
A key element of the festival is its exploration of how technology can expand the possibilities of musical performance and education.
The festival will feature a showcase of the ROLI, an innovative digital musical instrument developed by UK-based music technology company ROLI. The showcase will offer audiences an opportunity to experience new approaches to playing, composing and learning, while exploring the potential of emerging technologies in music.
Through performances, demonstrations and conversations, Brillante brings together tradition and innovation, creating a space to consider what the piano can be—and what it might become.
