Divya is an interdisciplinary artist interested in exploring femininity, memory and aspects of human condition. She studied Fine Art at Central Saint Martins and Royal College of Art in London. Her work encompasses text, painting, bronze sculpture and video. Divya is currently based in Delhi and is a recent recipient of Global Talent Award endorsed by the Arts Council England.

The work is part of a series developed in 2019 following a period of documenting everyday life at Basera, a transgender support network community based in Noida, India. Inspired by their stories, the series uses objects as references to pivotal moments in their lives – moments that either empowered or functioned as symbols of freedom and autonomy, while extending narratives to broader female experiences.
The work here questions whether we always need structured forms of protection to feel safe.
