The Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) teaching award is an internationally recognised teaching qualification which follows a curriculum designed by the University of Cambridge.
CELTA is an initial qualification for people with little or no previous teaching experience. However, it is equally relevant to those who want to learn a new way of teaching English or gain an internationally recognised qualification.
CELTA is considered by many to be the benchmark English language teaching certification and the only qualification accepted by many language schools around the world.
Throughout the course, you will learn the essential techniques of teaching. The sessions are practical and explore ideas that can be immediately used in the classroom. These are some of the areas that will be covered:
- the context of teaching and learning
- language analysis and awareness
- developing language and teaching skills
- lesson planning and resources
- classroom teaching practice
During the 120-hour course, you will also undertake lesson planning, reading and research and write four assignments in the evenings and over the weekends.
