A Skills study tour and policy dialogue is being organised by the British Council on the theme:
Changing the Perception of Vocational Education: Careers Advice and Guidance, from 14-16 Nov 2017 in Birmingham, UK.
This event will address issues such as the esteem or perception of vocational education in the minds of young people, parents and wider society. Participants will gain an insight into how the UK careers advice system works and the initiatives underway to promote vocational employment paths. An interactive programme will allow delegates to share best practice while visits to employers and training providers will also feature in the programme.
The Seminar will address key issues such as the currency of qualifications, communications, work experience and the role of parents. There will be interactive elements and delegates will have an opportunity to share best practices and network with colleagues.
Key to the programme will be a visit to the Skills Show, the UK’s largest skills event, which attracts 80,000 visitors and features careers advice and the opportunity for young people to get hands on experience of different trades.
Who should attend?
The study tour would be suitable for policy makers, representatives of State Skill Development Missions, skill competition organisers and to others who have responsibility for careers advice and attracting learners into Vocational Education in their governments or organisations and who are seeking to understand and discuss innovative practices in this area.

Below is the participation cost for the seminar (British Council managed visit):
- If you register and pay on or before 16 August 2017 : INR 1, 80,000 (Early bird discount)
- For registrations and payments from 16 August - 29 September 2017 : INR 1, 90,000
This includes conference fee, return economy flight tickets, airport transfers, accommodation for three nights (13, 14 and 15 November 2017), Breakfast, lunch, one networking dinner and transportation between various locations of the Seminar.
