About the Programme

The British Council, through Newton Bhabha Fund in collaboration with Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune is organising workshop for Women in Science Administration & Management. The aim of the workshop is to open up new avenues to retain trained women in science by targeting those who are making a transition from education to scientific careers. These workshops are funded under Newton Bhabha Fund and hosted by IndiaBioscience, Bangalore. These are planned to generate a workforce to take on emerging roles in the growing scientific enterprise and to raise awareness about allied career options in STEM.

Orientation Session

There will be an Orientation Session on Careers in Science Administration and Management with speakers from India working in related areas.

Date: 26th November 2018
Venue: Dasheri, NCBS, Bangalore
Eligibility for the Orientation Session: Free and open to all

Workshop Details

The workshop will build the capacity of women scientists by training them in the area of Science Administration and Management.. There are two levels to the workshop. The first level lasts for three days, includes up to 50 selected participants involves in-depth discussions and assignments.  A group of 20 selected participants will then have the opportunity to attend a second, advanced level.

The workshop would be conducted by a team of experienced faculty from Coventry University, UK: 

·         Elena Gaura – Associate Dean (Research)

·         James Brusey - Reader in Pervasive Computing


Applications are invited from women with MSc degree or pursuing PhD/Post-doc in STEM subject areas. Those who fulfill any of these criteria and are already employed in a scientific organisation may also apply. Selection will be made based on qualification, prior experience, statement on future career choice, and current job (if employed) profile.

Level 1 workshop: 27-29 November 2018

Venue: Raspuri, NCBS, Bangalore

Level 2 Workshop: 9 and 10 January 2019

Venue: Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi

Costs covered

There is no registration fee. Accommodation (for outstation participants) and boarding, would be provided free of cost.
