The British Council in partnership with English and Foreign Languages University (EFL-U) Hyderabad hosted the fifth International English Language Teacher Educator Conference (TEC15) at Hyderabad International Convention Centre from 27 February - 1 March 2015. The conference focused on the theme of ‘Ensuring quality in English language teacher education’, with over 950 delegates and speakers from more than 25 countries.
The central theme was further articulated through three sub-themes:
- Policy and quality initiatives
- Monitoring and evaluating quality
- Enhancing the quality of curriculum, materials and methods in English language teacher education
The programme included more than 100 sessions, including a key note delivered by Rod Bolitho (NILE) and plenaries by Rukmini Banerji (Pratham), Alison Barrett (British Council) and Paul Gunashekar (EFL-U). Two panel discussions, a lively debate on the place of traditional methodologies in today’s classrooms and a wide variety of parallel papers and workshops completed the programme.
All of the sessions taking place in the Main Hall and the largest breakout room were webcast live to a worldwide audience. These recordings are available on British Council India’s YouTube channel, accompanying the interviews featured here on the TeachingEnglish website.
