Stage on fire at School Drama Festival 2013-14
The theme for this year was Shakespeare – Celebrating 450 Years.
Curtains at the 34th Annual Inter-School Drama Festival came down in true British Council style. Witnessed by a 400-plus audience and a dedicated live webcast that lured 1200 unique viewers, the national finals in Kolkata saw 9 finalist schools (across India) perform under the watchful eyes of theatre personalities Mahesh Dattani, Arundhati Nag, Kolkata based actor cum school drama alumnus, Kaushik Sen and Dennis Dunn, Pro-VC, Manchester Metropolitan University.
Earlier, the finalist schools went through a brisk but intense workshop honed by theatre trainers from Manchester Metropolitan University. In the words of the judges, “'each play was diverse, celebrated the theme to its optimum best and presented productions of extremely high standards.” All this led to an exciting and tense climax in which the winners and their teacher co-ordinators were feted appropriately.
This page will come alive with photo stories from the finals, videos of each school's performance and the brand new (well same time year!) film on School Drama 2013-14! Watch out for more.
School Drama 2013-14 was presented by Manchester Metropolitan University and Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority in association with Indian Oil, National Jute Board, Bournville College, Wasabee, Bloomsbury, RPG Sanjeev Goenka Group, Hotel Hindusthan International and South City International School
