Opportunity 3 - Enhancing competency based education in CBSE schools - teacher capacity building and competency framework development

The British Council is looking to engage an agency with a wide range of global partners to enable British and Indian experts to meet and collaborate and to nurture mutually beneficial relationships. We want to find the most innovative ways to engage with and communicate to our audience.

The primary objective of this project is to find suitable vendors and hence bring in more efficiency, standardisation and scalability for the delivery process. The vendor shall be expected to do cost efficient, timely delivery of the services and maintain/exceed the quality parameters as specified.

Opportunity 4 - Advancing gender equality in higher education and science in India

The British Council wishes to engage the services of an agency with expertise in monitoring and evaluation for a project that aiming to ‘advance gender equality in higher education and science institutions in India’. The agency will be required to develop the project M&E framework, methodology and tools for baseline, mid-term and endline evaluation. Agency will also be responsible to develop the monitoring plan. 

The British Council plans to partner with higher education and science institutions associated with the Department of Science and Technology, to introduce a gender equality framework, drawing upon successful models in the UK. This pilot project would be customised to the requirements of the Indian context, with a focus on bringing about transformational change. The project aims to create a new ecosystem that will be based on building competencies of institutions and provide them with ongoing mentoring support to achieve transformation. This will entail examining the full life cycle in the profession of women in STEM at various levels in the institution, including, progression into academia and research, preparation for the workplace and future of work, employment opportunities, work environment and support systems, building competencies for lifelong learning, progression through career and professional opportunities, carving pathways and laying milestones towards leadership roles.

The project will assess, accredit and recognise institutions through Certification and Awards, and also engage, mentor, partner and support institutions as they work towards reaching the global best practices for gender equality. This will also be informed by sharing of experiences and good practice and proactive partnerships and networks.

Review of examination processes and system 

This assignment aimed at conducting a review of existing examination processes and system of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and provide the recommendations on how this can be improved. This is the first phase of a multiple-phase partnership project.

Scoping studies for STEM, STEAM and English

The primary objective of this project is to find suitable vendors to conduct scoping studies in various states in the areas of the teaching and learning of English and Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) education in the primary and secondary sectors.

Supply of a Learning Management System for a skills development programme in South Asia

The British Council in India was looking for organisations to assist in the development of a Learning Management System for the English and Digital for Girls’ Education (EDGE) programme in India. EDGE gives 13 to 19-year-old girls from some of the most marginalised communities in South Asia access to English, digital and 21st century skills development through a network of informal clubs. This project will involve collaboration with a writer and editor to develop a pilot learning management system for EDGE to be trialled in India in 2020.

Review curriculum and content development process in the Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in India

British Council India is seeking a curriculum and content development expert with in-depth global experience in TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) sectors to review and make recommendations around existing curriculum and content development processes in the Indian Skills Sector.
