About Esther Freud

Esther Freud is a novelist well worth reading if you haven’t already. She was named one of the best young British novelists early in her career. She has gone on to forge an impressive career, writing novels from The Wild to Gaglow and The Sea House. Her novel Hideous-Kinky was adapted into a film starring Kate Winslet.

You may have recognised Esther’s surname: she is indeed part of the Freud family. Her father was painter Lucian Freud and her great-grandfather was the founder of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud. Despite such famous family members, Esther has nonetheless managed to carve her own way with her brilliant fiction writing.
