Thank you to all our members for their continued support and engagement with the British Council library.

We want to update you on the changes we are making in response to what our customers have been telling us, and the rapidly evolving external context and increased demand for digital access.

Our growth strategy for the next five years is focused on delivering more flexible and personalised offers to more people both online and offline, ensuring our offer stays relevant to our customers’ needs. All of you have access to our online membership and we have seen a steady growth in access and use of our online resources. More recently, we have started online English language learning courses for adults and young learners, and we want to ensure that more people in more cities can access our wide range of digital learning resources. Our aim is to create opportunities for young people to succeed in a globalised world.

This means our physical libraries in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Hyderabad and Pune will now become fully-online services where you will be able to access a wider variety of content through our Digital Library from the comfort of your home.

We have revamped our online collection to include thousands of newspapers, magazines, audiobooks, e-books, comics, podcasts, self-development & training resources, and a plethora of recreational content with unlimited access. To know more about the resources our online library offers, click here.

As our Digital Library goes live in 31 countries, we’ll also be launching a mobile app version of the library in India in the coming months, which will allow you to build your own collection and offer you a seamless reading and learning experience.
