Threshold - An evening of music and conversations to celebrate International Women’s Day 2018

An event organised by British Council in association with Indian Ensemble.

About the event:

M D Pallavi and Bindhumalini try to understand gender as they make a journey from birth to liberation, from form to the formless with the words and through the eyes of women writers across the world in different languages. Threshold is a musical conversation, a jugal bandi between two wonderfully talented and exciting singer-musicians. The show premiered at the Under the Raintree Festival and since then has been performed at different alternative venues reaching out to varied audiences.

The concert will be followed by an interaction with the artists.

About the artists:

Bindhumalini is a singer, composer trained both in Carnatic and Hindustani and finds her resonance in the wisdom of the mystic poets.

M D Pallavi is a trained Hindustani classical singer, with numerous shows and films to her credit. She sings Kannada poetry, acts in the theatre and makes films.
