A 10 day photo exhibit that showcases the nostalgia of the past years of cinema.
From the silent era to the current digital age in Cinema, the theatres of Tamil Nadu that remain carry the history of Tamil cinema and have played a very important role for the locals. From propagating political ideologies to a place where people could get together with a common purpose of entertainment without the distinction of caste, class and religion - the first democratic space for the community.
Using the medium of photography, Balaji Maheshwar documents the present and transient state of the once glorious cinema halls and looks at these fading memories with the same fondness and affection as he would at a human being nearing his/her end.
The exhibition is a free, open for all event.
