This workshop aims to help you to communicate effectively with colleagues, subordinates, bosses, vendors, clients, and indeed all types of people you interact in the professional/corporate world, by practising your active language skills while raising awareness of the various lexical sets of functional language at your disposal.

Training and Learning Methods

This workshop is hands-on and task-based, with frequent interactive practice activities designed to develop essential language skills. It covers the following areas:

  • What makes for good communications?
  • Your aim for each interaction and how to communicate it
  • The structure of a prepared interaction
  • Functional language in professional communications
  • The role of Global English in today’s global marketplace
  • Review of learning and action planning

Who can attend

This workshop has been developed for professionals from a wide range of industries and business who wish to improve their business language and professional skills quickly. They may not be beginners in English but would have studied in English at a high level. However,  they may have limited experience - or confidence - in using the language for communications in professional/corporate circles.

Trainer Profile

Mahrukh Bharucha, Corporate / English Training Consultant – INDIA, is based in Pune. She has more than 30 years' experience teaching English Communication Skills in India, Sri Lanka, China and France. She is CELTA-qualified and is  trainer for Speech, Drama and Communication Skills and has the Diploma in Teaching English to Adults. Mahrukh has also worked extensively in Theatre – using Drama to teach English and bridge cultural gaps. 

Registrations open on a first come first served basis up to a maximum of 20 participants.  Prior registration is required. 

Registration Fees: INR 3200 for members, and INR 4000 for non-members

How to register:  We accept payment in cash, credit/debit card, cheque drawn in favour of ‘British Council Division Mumbai’. (Please Note: Registration fee paid is non-refundable but change in nomination is accepted)Registration will be confirmed after your payment is received.

Participants are requested to make their own lunch arrangements.
