We live in a time where the concept of ‘self-care’ is prevalent, and yet, never have people been more disconnected from their true selves.
British Council invites you to a workshop on 'Performance and critical thinking' by Nayantara Nayar, Chevening Scholar for Contemporary Performance Practices, the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK.
She is a researcher and performance maker. She has been honored with the Best Theatre Artist at Stella Maris College, Chennai. A co-writer of ‘The Lottery’ which was long-listed for the Hindu Playwriting Award 2018, Nayantara is also a creator of the award-winning performance, ‘Amma, what is black pepper in Malayalam?’ for the University of Kent, and for TBT Productions, London. Her film ‘Time Vampires’ was screened in student competitive category at Film Southasia.
The objective of the workshop is to leave participants with a more genuine connection to their inner lives, while also providing them with the tools necessary for the creation of a critical self-concept.
Using theatre and storytelling, people will get to think about themselves and their stories, the undercurrents of desire and the fear that drive us all. It is an opportunity to think about how the culture we exist in shapes and influences us, and how we, in turn, affect that culture.
