British Council Pune launches Reading Challenge 2016- The Big Friendly Read for children on 14 November 2016.

The Big Friendly Read will feature some of Roald Dahld's best-loved characters and the amazing artwork of his principal illustrator, Sir Quentin Blake.

The Big Friendly Read will encourage reading on a giant scale and highlight six key themes - invention, adventure, mischief, word play, child champions and friendship - that are explored in Roald Dahld's most famous books. Children will be encouraged to expand their own reading by exploring similar themes, fantastic facts, characters and stories across the best contemporary children's writing.

About READING Challenge:

  • The Reading Challenge is a theme-based reading programme by the Reading Agency (UK), the Arts Council England and the British Council that aims to encourage children to read more books.
  • Children aged 4-8 and 9-13 years can take part in this challenge which runs between 14 November and 28 December 2016
  • Children can  read six books or more and participate in events/workshops to complete the challenge
  • Participation Certificates endorsed by British Council and the Reading Agency ( UK) will be presented
  • Awards will be presented to achievers in a special ceremony

 Registration Fee - INR 1500/- for members, non-members are entitled to a discount on Annual Platinum/Family Membership
