GREAT Talks aim to raise awareness and promote the UK’s strengths in education through talks, panel discussions and workshops, while giving the speakers an opportunity to explore possibilities for academic partnerships.

GREAT Talks is a lecture series of celebrated UK professionals, scientists and science communicators organised and curated by the British Council. The program’s aim to raise awareness and promote the UK’s strengths in education through talks and panel discussions .This platform offers students a once in a lifetime opportunity to expand their horizons, meet with prominent educationists and explore new options. 

The next GREAT Talks is scheduled on Friday, 19 March 2021, on virtual platform and will be delivered by Sir Walter Bodmer. 

 

 

Speakers profile

Sir Walter Bodmer

Sir Walter Bodmer did his BA in mathematics and Ph.D in population genetics under Sir Ronald Fisher at Cambridge University. In 1970 he became Professor of Genetics at Oxford University, then became Director of Research and later Director General of the Imperial Cancer Research Fund. In 2013 he was awarded a Royal Medal from the Royal Society for seminal contributions to population genetics, gene mapping and understanding of familial genetic disease.
