About the film screening
The 21st edition of the European Union Film Festival will open at the British Council in New Delhi with a celebrated production of Shakespeare’s Coriolanus to mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death. The festival will present screenings of a collection of 24 award-winning European films showcasing different genres of European cinema from drama, romance, comedy, documentary, animation, fairy tale among many others.
The festival will travel across 11 cities in India at the same time.
About the movie - Coriolanus
A 2011 adaptation of the play directed by Ralph Fiennes in his directorial debut, presents a contemporary day alternate for Rome, where riots are in progress after stores of grain are withheld from citizens and civil liberties are constrained.
In this contemporary version Ralph Fiennes has created a vibrant interpretation of Coriolanus with political relevance.
