My Favourite Places: based around Dylan Thomas’ ‘Reminiscences of Childhood’ by Dr Elaine Canning, Head of Cultural Engagement and Development at Swansea University’s Cultural Institute and Executive Officer of the International Dylan Thomas Prize, the largest literary prize in the world for young writers.

This workshop is part of Wales in Kolkata, a season of Welsh arts activity and collaboration taking place in Kolkata this January. Supported by Wales Arts International and the British Council, Wales in Kolkata is a result of relationships and networks formed by the 2017/18 #IndiaWales season, a major program of artistic collaboration between Wales and India.

Dr Elaine Canning is Head of Cultural Engagement and Development at Swansea University’s Cultural Institute, as well as Executive Officer of the International Dylan Thomas Prize, the largest literary prize in the world for young writers. Educated at Queen’s University, Belfast, with research specialism in seventeenth-century Spanish religious drama, Elaine was appointed by Bangor University in 1999 to lead undergraduate scheme development in Spanish. In 2005, she joined the Department of Hispanic Studies at Swansea University and became Head of the Research Institute for Arts and Humanities in 2014.
