The Dursley’s of Privet Drive never had a perfectly normal life, and oh are we glad about that, thank you very much! The magical series of Harry Potter entered our lives 20 years ago in 1997, enchanting us with awe and adventure, driving us through the wizarding world, glimpsing into the complexities of human nature and emotions.
Twenty years later, on 26 June 2017, many of us still live the magic – a reality for a lot of us – that brought in sense, sensibility and semblance of our growing up years. As young Potter heads lurk around us today, a proud community continues to grow, understanding and analysing the larger aspects of Rowling’s not-so-children’s fiction.
If you are 9 to 30 years old, join us at the British Council, showing off your Potter merchandise, sipping on some Butter Beer in the second season of Literary Lounge, as we indulge in a master quiz, and open up to a fan-fiction competition. The Literary Lounge, curated by Nirmala Govindarajan will also have dramatised readings from ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ by Christina Daniels, Romal Laisram and Jatin Prabhu.
This event is curated by Nirmala Govindarajan, journalist and author.
