BIG FRIENDLY READ
British Council, Bengaluru, presents BIG FRIENDLY READ (Reading Challenge for children in collaboration with The Roald Dahl Literary Estate)
The Reading Challenge is an immensely popular and successful reading initiative run in the UK libraries and schools which British Council, Bengaluru, is proud to bring to you again. Each year the Reading Challenge programme encourages children to read six or more books of their choice with collectable incentives and rewards, plus a certificate and medal, for every child who completes the Challenge.
The theme: BIG FRIENDLY READ
Children in the age group of 5 - 13 years are invited to borrow and read 6 or more books over a period of 6 weeks and write reviews on them. The Challenge is delivered in collaboration with The Roald Dahl Literary Estate to celebrate 100 years of the world's favourite storyteller. The Big Friendly Read features some of Roald Dahl's best-loved characters and the amazing artwork of his principal illustrator, Sir Quentin Blake. It will encourage reading on a giant scale. To take part, children need to sign up at the library. They'll receive a special collector's folder and as they borrow and read at least 6 library books, they can collect 6 special cards to complete it. All cards feature original Quentin Blake illustrations and explore some of most popular themes in Roald Dahl's books such as invention, mischief and friendship.
