The amazing art of lying: acting workshop

Friday, 29 April 2016 - 11:00am to Saturday, 30 April 2016 - 6:00pm

Yes, it is indeed! An actor is an effective liar. A wonderful actor is a wonderful liar! In a very positive sense! The major difference in his lie and that of others is that he tells everyone that he is about to lie!

All human beings are instinctive actors. When we look at kids, we know how amazing actors they are… and we have been there, done that! And as we grow up, we develop inhibitions… These inhibitions of being right or wrong create a hurdle in expressing ourselves instinctively.

Let’s shed these inhibitions and embrace the wonderful world of acting!

Programme Content and objectives

I. Focus on opening and stretching actor’s resources. It will help the participants to use their self-experience as the first step towards the actor’s expression. Participants will work on their own body and mind as actor’s tools. We will also work on understanding voice modulation, developing physical awareness, learning observation skills, partner contact and rhythm.

II. Understanding the idea of ‘magic if’ and ‘emotional memory’. This will be learnt through improvisations.

III. Interaction with the Bard! In which participants will work on scenes from Shakespearean plays and present them at the end.
