Manjula Rao

Manjula Rao is the Director Higher Education and Society for British Council in India.

As the national lead for Higher Education for the British Council in India, she is responsible for developing national strategy, managing stakeholder relationships across government, business and academia and conceptualising programmes and projects to promote and strengthen India-UK collaboration, planning and developing collaborative partnerships between Indian and UK institutions. 

She has worked on large scale bilateral and multilateral programmes funded by World Bank, European Union, Department for International Development and a number of UK government departments in education, science and technology, health, environment and social justice. 

She is a physicist by qualification and pursued research in Astronomy and Neural Nets before taking up teaching in St Xavier’s College. She has been working with the British Council for over 25 years.

She ran a dozen half marathons and also played cricket for Hyderabad.
