Helen has joined the India team from Istanbul where she led the British Council's work in education across 15 countries in East and South Europe and Central Asia. Reaching more than 23 million people and contributing to the development of a £10m contracts’ business, her work there focussed predominantly on higher education, science and skills - strengthening co-operation between governments, universities, colleges and people in the UK and countries of Wider Europe. Her achievements included facilitation of five major government to government agreements, development of bilateral science and education seasons in Turkey and Russia, overseeing the establishment of more than 100 new university partnerships, and creating new digital offers in vocational education and science.
Helen joined the British Council as an academic in the Czech Republic. She has since held a number of senior positions in education, English and external relations spanning more than 20 countries and the UK.
Before joining the British Council, Helen worked as a teacher educator and teacher in Thailand and Portugal. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education with Distinction from the University of Leeds.
