Dr. Jovan Ilić

Dr. Jovan Ilić has 30 years’ experience working in education and cultural relations in not for profit and international organisations.

He loves enrolling and uniting teams behind a vision, and invests heavily in staff and provides structure, frameworks, standards, and above all a consistent approach to support them to perform, and to support them to flourish in their performance. Dr. Jovan believes in treating all colleagues with the same level of respect and compassion and believes in the power of education and culture to transform people’s lives. 

He has a Ph.D. in Environmental Philosophy and is the South Asia environment lead, a Masters’ in Development, and a Bachelors in Geography and Environmental Studies. Dr. Jovan has published in journals, magazines, and the national press.

A native English speaker, Dr. Jovan also converses in Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian. He has a daughter and a son.

He spent 5 years in Nepal as Country Director/Cultural Attaché where he led 280+ staff with a turnover of £50 million across multiple locations of the British Council operation in Nepal. Dr. Jovan led the Nepal team through times of uncertainty and challenge; including the 2015 earthquake and Covid-19.
